The Canadian dollar fell 21-100ths to close at 95.16 cents U-S.
The S-and-P/T-S-X index plunged 158.33 points at 13,288.96.

Volume was at 226.64 (m) million shares, valued at $3.89 (b)
billion shares.

In New York, the Dow Jones dropped 241.81 points to end the day
at 11,386.25 on 3.41 (b) billion shares.

The Nasdaq dipped 49.12 points at 2,365.59.

The New York Mercantile Exchange future closed at 825 dollars, 70
cents, down seven dollars, 80 cents U-S.

Futures contracts closed mixed at the ICE Futures Canada. Canola
deferred months closed four dollars, 40 cents lower to four dollars,
90 cents higher; feed wheat closed unchanged and western barley
closed unchanged to one dollaar.
